Variable Steam Controls & Removable Water Tank

The see-through water tank is removable, so you can easily refill it at the tap without moving the entire steamer. The tank holds up to 1-gallon of water, enough for 2-4 hours of continuous steaming.

The Vornado steamer offers two steam settings – high and low.

The high steam setting runs the machine at 1500 watts and outputs steam at 1.05 ounces (29.76 grams) per minute. The low steam setting drops the power to 900 watts and outputs steam at 0.56 ounces (15.86 grams) per minute.

The low setting is suitable for silk, satin, polyester, rayon, wool, nylon, and fabrics with embroidery, sequins, or other embellishments.

The high setting will power through wrinkles in cotton, acrylics, linen, and denim.

A 1500 Watt heating element of the Vornado garment steamer heats up quickly, so you can start steaming right away. Its extra-wide 6.5-inch steaming surface is perfect for oversized garments and upholstery.

The Vornado VS-570 also comes with a steam hose and steam nozzle. The steam hose is made from PVC and is five feet long. This gives you plenty of room to move around while steaming.

The Vornado Commercial Steamer has a power cord that is ten feet long. A built-in cord wrap system allows you to store the cord neatly when not in use.

Using the Vornado VS-570 Commercial Fabric Steamer

The Vornado steamer is easy to use by following these steps:

  • First, make sure that the water tank is filled and screwed on correctly.
  • Next, plug the steamer into a 120V grounded outlet and turn it on by pressing the Power ON button.
  • Choose the desired steam setting and wait for the steamer to heat up for approximately two minutes.
  • Once the steamer is heated, hang Fabric Nozzle upright using the provided hanger ring. The steam will penetrate deep into the fabric and loosen the fibers, making it easier to remove wrinkles.
  • Press Power Switch Off (O) and unplug the steamer from the outlet when you’re finished steaming. Allow the steamer to cool down before emptying the water tank. Lift it from the steamer and pour the water out to empty the tank.

Cleaning and Maintenance of the Vornado VS-570 Commercial Fabric Steamer

All steamers are prone to mineral build-up, and routine maintenance is essential to keep them working well. I was really impressed to see that Vornado included 2 packets of cleaning crystals with the steamer. If you need additional packets, you can buy them on Amazon:

Depending on the hardness of the water in your area (if you are using tap water), you will need to descale the steamer every 3-6 months. You can avoid this entirely by only using distilled water in your steamer.

The process of descaling is simple:

  1. Unplug the steamer from the outlet and allow it to cool down.
  2. Remove the steam hose, pole, and water tank from the steamer.
  3. Empty all residual water from the reservoir at the base of the steamer unit.
  4. Mix 1 sachet of cleaning crystals (included with purchase) with 4 ounces of hot water.
  5. Pour the solution into the hole where you connect the steam hose.
  6. Reconnect the steam hose, plug in the steamer, and power on.
  7. Directing the steamer head into the sink, run the steamer on the low steam setting for 5 minutes.
  8. Power off the steamer and leave it to sit with the cleaning solution inside for 1 hour.
  9. After 1 hour, remove the steam hose and pour the solution back into the sink.
  10. Pour clean water into the steamer through the same outlet that the steam hose connects to.
  11. Swish it around and rinse. You may need to repeat the rinsing process until the water is clear with no particles.
  12. Rinse the steam hose by pouring 2 cups of clean water into the hose, then pour it back out again.
  13. Reinstall the steam hose, telescopic pole, and water tank.
  14. Your steamer has now been descaled and is ready to use again.

You can wipe the outside of the fabric steamer for any external marks with a damp cloth. You can find additional cleaning and descaling sachets on Amazon:
